2013 National Ag Day

I like food. It’s plain and simple really. It tastes good. It fills my belly.

Yet, that’s not the only reason why I reblogged a ton of posts today regarding National Ag Day today. I wanted people to hear the stories from other bloggers I follow about what National Ag Day means to them. Why? Because they are all involved in Ag, whether it’s farming, ranching, media, etc.

Agriculture effects your life every day whether you take the time to notice it or not. That’s 365 days, not just one, like today. National Ag Day should be thought of like Valentine’s Day, don’t just show your love on one day but all year! And that’s what all of my blogger friends do. And I hope to be able to do more of.

Why? Because I too love Ag! I’ve had a passion for it since I was a kid (see post here) and want to be even more involved with it now. With the inspiration from my blogger friends I want to know more about my food sources. Know more about who supplies it, how its made, where, etc. And SHARE it!

Consumers (that’s all of us) don’t take the time to check into what we put into our bodies anymore. And we BELIEVE anything the news or internet tells us. Why believe what other people say? Why not find out for yourself?

So take this National Ag Day as a challenge. Challenge yourself to invest in YOU. Find a local farmer/rancher and ask questions, get to know them and what they supply.

Below are the blogs that I reblogged today, check them out as well and ask them questions!¬†Pretty soon, you might just get the bug yourself to start a garden, raise pigs, raise chickens, become a part of an adult 4H…the possibilities are endless!
