Part of my New Year consists of knocking out these books. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me but this is just the beginning of my stack that I’m going to get through.
What are some of your goals for the New Year?
This lady has a tendency to drive things home to me. Whether it’s on her blog or on Twitter giving me a what for. I’m starting to see the light Jesse! There is a good change coming!
I’ve had these verses in my head lately.
2 Corinthians 12: 9-10
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
I’ve been writing so much about grace in family life, but God gives us grace in our work too. Make yourself available to hear His wisdom, and He’ll show you where to focus your efforts. The next thing you know, you’ll succeed in everything you do.
Just look at what the story of Joseph can teach us. It’s such a good story! But it’s more than that. There is so much wisdom in it. There is so much to Joseph.
The story goes like this: Joseph’s brothers are jealous of him, so they sell him to some traders who take him to Egypt. In Egypt, Joseph is sold into the household of Potiphar, who managed the Pharaoh’s household.

Today’s Ag Day Post is by “The Four Country Gals” began farming their 9.6 acre property in 2007. In six short years, they have developed a sustainable farm on the SW Utah high desert. All four are retired from very stressful careers and find the business of both produce farming and small animal wrangling to be both fun and exciting. They earned their “shepherd’s” mantle last year, having had it bestowed upon them by a neighboring sheep herder, who had been mentoring them for five years. Now the Four Country Gals are mentoring two other new farmers in the area.
What’s windy, dusty, abused, short on water, and fairly isolated? It’s where you’ll find us, the Four Country Gals, tending our little flock of sheep, tiny herd of goats, and a couple thousand square feet of garden.
Yeah, we’re small, but we’re awesome.

WARNING! This might be considered by some to be gross, inappropriate, or tragic, but I think it is extremely important share the how’s, what’s and why’s of our food. If you have any questions about anything you see please ask – I love to share about the ranch.
As I shared with you before, our hogs have been slaughtered. That was the whole reason we bought the hogs, to eat them. They were not pets. We never planned on keeping them. They would not have existed at all if they did not perform this function. I chose this particular breed of hog because it is a critically endangered heritage hog. I wanted to use this blog to hopefully encourage other producers and ranchers to investigate the red wattle, tamworth, or hereford hog, to raise! And since I know that happened, I feel really happy about this whole project!

3 years! Can you believe it? Prior to National Ag Day 2010, I was involved in social media and advocating for the agriculture industry, but I had yet to really find my spot. That all changed with one tweet. I posted my response on the Working Ranch magazine blog I was writing at the time and received far more response than I could have ever imagined. That planted the seed for this blog and the I am Agriculture Proud theme I use across several Social Media platforms.
I feel it appropriate to share those original thoughts on National Agriculture Day 2013 and encourage you to do the same.
